IN MEMORIAM MICHEL VIANG

Great blitz tournament on Lichess.org

In order to pay tribute to his friend and president of the Cameroonian chess federation Michel Nguélé VIANG, who died prematurely on June 17, 2020, the International Association of Francophone Chess organizes, in his memory, a great online blitz tournament via the platform Lichess.org

The games will be played at the rate of 3 min + 2 sec between 16:00 and 22:00 (Paris time) on Sunday 19 July 2020, the eve of World Chess Day and the 96° anniversary of the creation of FIDE.

We invite all chess players to participate in this tribute by playing either a few games or the whole tournament and leaving a message in the chat.

RULES OF PROCEDURE:

The tournament is open to all and takes place on the website lichess.org which is a free chess server. If you do not have an account yet, you can create it via https://lichess.org/signup
How are scores calculated?
A win yields 2 points, a draw 1 point and a defeat no point. If you win two consecutive games, you will start a series of points that count double. This series is represented by a flame icon. The games that follow will then count double as long as you win. In other words, a win will be worth 4 points, a draw 2 points and a defeat no points. For example, two wins followed by a mach draw will yield 6 points: 2 + 2 + (2 x 1)
How are matches determined?
At the beginning of the tournament, players are matched according to their odds.
As soon as you have finished your game, go back to the tournament home page: you will then be paired with a player who has a ranking close to yours. This ensures a minimum waiting time between games, however it is possible that you may not face every other player in the tournament.
Play fast and go back to the tournament home page to play more games and earn more points.
When does the tournament end?
The tournament has a countdown. When the tournament reaches zero, the tournament leaderboard is frozen and the tournament winner is announced. The games still need to be over, but they don’t matter anymore.
Other important rules
There is a countdown to your first shot. If you do not play any shots during this time, your opponent will be declared the winner. Cancelling the game during the first 10 moves will not bring any points to both players.
