0:00 Hello Everyone

World Chess Champion Ding Liren returns for the 86th edition of the Tata Steel Masters, a 14-player single round-robin taking place from 13-28 January in Wijk aan Zee, the Netherlands.

The time control is 100 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 50 minutes for the rest of the game, with a 30-second increment per move from move 1. A tie for first place will be decided by two blitz (3+2) games. If still tied, the players keep playing single “sudden death” games where White gets 2.5 minutes and Black 3 minutes until one side wins. The monetary prizes will be shared evenly. Official website:

  1. I think nodirbek lost to nepo. This was not his first loss

  2. ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ โคโคโค

  3. Magnus is literally the Gojo Satoru of chess world! Without him the balance of power rotating mad like a compass needle on the magnetic pole!

  4. Bad Audio? Maybe it's just my phone? ๐Ÿ˜ข

  5. India no. 1. World no 10. Joint leader in Tata steel. That's how you do it.

  6. You haven't shown how Anish defeated Van Forest

  7. Finally you dropped this video ๐Ÿ˜Š

  8. we have now a completely new game ๐Ÿค

  9. This was totally unnecessary from Nodirbek. Shame. But this guy have such a mental strength, I didn't see something like that for very long time. Fearless, he will fight to the last breath. Just sometimes, I see signs of nervousness in him, but I assign that to his still young age. However, he's a champion material, if he keep this attitude and sturdiness.

  10. By this win He became India no 1 and entered the top 10 players of the world

  11. What a game.. no blunder by anyone

    Absolute class play by both

  12. Vidit has improved a lot and has taken a lot of effort on his weakness in technique. It's great to see how he is dominating in the tournaments!๐Ÿ˜Š

  13. Vidit, Vidit!
No one wants to be defeated
Showin' how funky and strong is your fight
It doesn't matter who's wrong or right (who's right)
    – Michael Jackson

  14. This game is lit, the white king slowly travels

  15. ding vs max was also solid stalemate ideas

  16. I would much prefer if a win was worth 1.5 or maybe even 2 in tournaments like this I think one win and one loss should be worth more than two draws. It would change the current leaderboard. I think it would better reflect the skills shown.

  17. spoiled comment at the top ruin my life, ๐Ÿ˜‚. lost interest to wach the whole video.

  18. spoiled comment at the top ruin my life, ๐Ÿ˜‚. lost interest to watch the whole video.

  19. 11:30 Nope, its not his first loss !! Nepo beat him also !! His 2nd loss of tournament

  20. Vidit's king is like Vishy's knight – a lethal piece.

  21. Sorry to correct you but its 2nd loss for Nodirbek ..

  22. Vidits win feel like we did it so much emotions yes we did itโค

  23. Vidit in the form of his life, good prospects for candidates for him.

  24. ty for always going into sub lines and i like th emore detailed line to end the game as sometime for lower elo player like me the line are no that easy as it seems

  25. Everyone waiting for this, since we saw results. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

  26. Hans Niemann = next Bobby Fischer

    – Wesley So = current Bobby Fischer

    – Bobby Fischer's ghost = old Bobby Fischer

    – Beth Harmon = Bobby Fischer in another universe

Each of these 4 'is a prodigy, had a rather dark childhood and is American'.

    Speaking of Wesley So

Hikaru's (the rapid WFRCC) wife almost beat Wesley So's (the classical WFRCC) girlfriend!

2023 USCC – Indeed Carissa Yip won and thanked Wesley So as her secret second in the 2023 USCC closing ceremony speech.

But in Carissa vs Atousa, Carissa was losing most of the game. Atousa just blundered in the end.

move 54 for black is an 8-move equality puzzle

    it's so sharp

    [Variant "From Position"]

    [FEN "1Q5k/3r1rn1/p3N3/Pp1p2P1/1q2p3/1B2R2P/5P2/6K1 b"]

  27. 3rd: Why isn't Vidit the biggest reason India would want classical 9LX?

They should have tata steel 9LX, tata steel india 9LX, AICF 9LX, etc

In fact tata steel 9LX makes more sense than tata steel chess because single round robins in chess randomly assign colours when white has a clear human advantage. In 9LX, the advantage (so far?) is only in computers.

2023Nov Update – Vidit won the 2023 Grand Swiss!
    2024Jan Update – India No1 !

Vidit beat Sergey Karjakin to get in the 2019 WFRCC quarter-finals. But then…

Wesley So & Fabi expectedly do better in classical than in rapid for both 9LX & chess. Now, I'm not familiar with Vidit but

    – Wesley So does 30% better.

    – Fabi does 40% better.

    Vidit in 9LX

    – is the top Indian classical player

    – is the worst rapid player among the top 9 of the 2019 WFRCC.

    – in classical ties for 2nd place w/ Fabi & Nepo behind Wesley So.

When is Tata Steel Classical Chess960 ? It should be a knockout where Vidit is seeded into the quarter-finals. It can be 60min, not 120min.

In the 2019 WFRCC, wesley so beat magnus in 3x classical in a row!

Question : When was the last time this happened in chess that someone lost 3x classical in a row in the finals of a FIDE or PCA WCC (or finals of knockouts candidates or semi-finals of a knockout WCC) ?

Answer : Vishy Anand beat Alexei Shirov in 2000.

2 whole decades Vishy's record stood – broken only in a variant!

    Wesley So on Lex Fridman

    Interview while imprisoned

Pablo Mercado: So what is your advice to the Filipino chess players?

Uncle Bobby Fischer: My advice is to give up chess and take up Fischer Random.

    – 2004Oct11, 15 years before nephew Wesley So became the inaugural WFRCC in CLASSICAL time controls.

  28. All players are this good in every other tournament as well..but the presence of Magnus makes it almost invisible..

  29. Imagine if nodirbek finishes 2nd place just like last year ๐Ÿ˜‚

  30. #suggestion

Hello Agad! I wanted to suggest the game between Fabiano Caruana and Levon Aronian where Caruana was accused of cheating in his 3100 positional masterpiece of a performance!

  31. The hardest thing about chess is pronouncicng some of these players' names.

  32. Great game by Vidit, very methodical in countering Nodirbek's preparation !

  33. Dilep kumaryadav bhaipur paryagrajup

  34. Loved this candidate version of Vidit. Keep playing like this champion๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ช VD OP

  35. what does the pawn chain cutting across the diagonal of the standings mean?

  36. Do not spoil the games with your titles and/or comments
