“Holy Smokes!” | Eastern SuperBlitz Arena Chess Tournament #35

This is a 90-minute tournament I competed in on lichess.org. This SuperBlitz Arena chess tournament was recorded locally on September 28th, 2021 at 1:00 AM EDT. Time controls are set at 3 minutes per player.

I’m a self-taught National Master in chess out of Pennsylvania, USA who was introduced to the game by my father in 1988 at the age of 8. The purpose of this channel is to share my knowledge of chess to help others improve their game. I enjoy continuing to improve my understanding of this great game, albeit slowly. Consider subscribing here on YouTube for frequent content, and/or connecting via any or all of the below social medias. Your support is greatly appreciated. Take care, bye. 😀

  1. A fresh Jerry tournament! Always enjoyable and appreciated.

  2. Happy to see you posting more content of you playing, Jerry. Really fun.

  3. I was a chess teacher for almost ten years, and I don't know if I'll do it again. I taught elementary schoolers how to compete in scholastic tournaments, but school activities are different now… I used to always send out an email with my recommended viewing, and Chessnetwork always got best in show. I knew I could tell families of elementary schoolers that they could watch Jerry's videos, and he'd be entertaining and appropriate. Thank you so much Jerry. I'm happy you've been able to do this and make a mark on the world.

And obviously, I would always say "chop chop" when I captured pieces during lessons.

  4. Jerry, thank you so much for uploading these tournaments. I've been waiting for a long time, now i can sleep in peace

  5. Jerry I know my chess is rusty but @1:04:51, f6xe4 maybe 🤷🏽‍♂️, he blundered rook recapturing queen on d3 instead of knight x f6 first. Or did I miss something.

  6. I don't normally leave comments on videos, but your tournament ones are literally my favorite videos on YouTube. Thank you for these!

  7. Hey Jerry, you might not see this but I've been going through a lot recently and seeing you post was just what I needed.

Chess is beautiful and I've been a sub for well over a couple of years now. Thanks for your chess play, please keep it up.

  8. Just leaving a comment to support my favorite chess youtuber. You rock!

  9. 1:12:50 I'm glad you punished this headless aggression. That's what every game should look like for those guys. Well done sir.

  10. ASMR chess videos, so serene… gentle music outro too. fantastic videos jerry!!

  11. Jerry, you sound gloomy, not that Im complaining. 😀

  12. Woop, been watching old tournaments happy there's a new one finally

  13. "Feels..like..they've..played..this..one..before…"

    Epic game, Jerry.

  14. Please could you play more 15 + 10. That would be amazing I learn so much from those longer time formats

  15. is it me or are you playing way worse than usual? bad day perhaps

  16. Dude, why are you playing eastern superblitz at 1:00AM??! When do you sleep everyday!?

  17. Does anyone know what Jerry does for a living? He barely ever uploads.

  18. why don't u often regulalry post videos on youtube , u are such a good chess streamer

  19. You sound like the Bob Ross of chess in this one Jerry! I mean that as a compliment 🙂

  20. In the third game, not sure why you didn't move your knight, for example taking on c6 with the knight, with a discovered attack on their knight. If they take on c6 with the quee, you take on f6 with the bishop attacking the rook, g7 being pinned. if they take your queen, well you take back with the h pawn as you mentioned.. before playing h3. you win at least a pawn i think,

  21. That game at 1:06:32 was amazing! Waaay down on the clock and clearly loosing endgame. Still you beat him with better endgame play. It was great to watch.

  22. Jerry Im a longtime fan and I feel like you getting more checkmates in your games could really take you to the next level

  23. Jerry hope you will also cover this world cup. Really appreciated your Carlsen-Caruana world cup games.

  24. Yo, Jerry
Suggestion: look up LeelaFish games maybe?

They united leela's insight with blunder protection of standard engine to create monster couple hundred points stronger than either one on their own

  25. The Holy Smokes game was quite the butt clencher.

  26. I wouldn't describe myself as holy. I'm just a believer and well read. And I occasionally smoke.

  27. Watching you play and explain is very helpful. Thanks

  28. HANCHIK_1 is terrifying.

E: Never mind he's a pussycat compared to vadimnedoka11 How the HELL did you beat him? He played like he had that opening memorised to 100 moves. Study your endgames kids.
