I played my first ever OTB chess tournament this weekend at the 1st Silicon Valley Open! This is just a vlog of what the experience was like – a video with game analysis is coming soon.
Come hang out on Twitch!
I stream from 7-10 PST on Wednesdays 🙂

Bit late to the party but lovely video!
Great video, very entertaining! You provided just enough info on your matches to keep it interesting. Others go into so much detail they lose my interest. You also have an entertaining way about your recaps. Keep up the great work.
Thank you for sharing your experience.
Thank you for sharing! I am terrified of getting absolutely crushed by an 8 year old…
Thanks for the video! I'm thinking about doing my first tournament at St. Louis Chess Club and obviously I'm nervous haha. But this video definitely helped!
nicely edited video. that was fun to watch.
Excellent vlog taking us through your first emotional tournament experience! It's fun to live vicariously, and I'm excited for more content!
Cool video man , a great insight on tournaments
Just played My second tournament I won 4/7 games it was the Finnish youth championship. The thing is I’ve played for a few months under a year and most of my oponents had played for multiple years and the guy who won had played for 8 years.
What is the reason for playing on a open tournament on your first otb?
This is awesome man! I have a goal to play in my first otb tournament this year.
Congratulations Malcolm! Really enjoyed watching this. I went to my first OTB tournament in about a decade last month. So excited to get back into competitive chess 🙂
1340 is a pretty good start!. As you get more experience playing these long, hard games, your stamina will improve along with your results
thanks for the video
Good video
